COLUMBUS, Ohio — High school athletes in Ohio are now permitted to seek money for their name, image and likeness (NIL).
The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Monday morning that its member schools voted in favor of an emergency bylaw referendum on NIL, which was in response to a temporary restraining order issued in October by a Franklin County judge.
The OHSAA said the referendum won by a count of 447-121 while 247 schools abstained from the vote, which was conducted by principals and concluded on Friday.
The new bylaw goes into effect immediately.
