Incumbent state lawmaker Matt Simpson and challenger Danielle Duggar will campaign once again to represent Baldwin County’s fast-growing Eastern Shore in the Alabama House of Representatives.

Simpson, a Republican from Daphne who has represented House District 96 in the legislature’s lower chamber since 2018, announced his bid for a third term Wednesday morning. In a statement, Simpson reflected on passing legislation to increase penalties for fentanyl trafficking, supporting the pro-school choice CHOOSE Act and promoting Baldwin Preparatory Academy’s workforce-preparedness curriculum, and said there is still much to be done.
