RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A 46-year-old man faces felony charges for allegedly strangling an adult and seriously injuring a child under 12, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Christopher Fernando Gladden initially fled the scene on Chisholm Road but later returned and was taken into custody.

At the Randolph County Detention Center, a magistrate found probable cause for felony assault by strangulation, felony intentional child abuse causing serious physical injury, and misdemeanor assault on a child under 12. No bond was set for these charges.

Gladden was also served two outstanding arrest orders for failure to appear in Randolph County, with a combined $24,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court on Nov. 24.
