CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The 40th Annual Scouting for Food Drive brought in thousands of donations in southeast Missouri.
According to organizers, the largest single-day canned food drive in the United States brought in more than 100,000 in one week.
The drive started on Saturday, November 15, when Scouts distributed their Scouting for Food bags throughout southeast Missouri neighborhoods.
Those donation bags were then collected on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The Greater St. Louis Area Scouting Council said donations from this year’s food drive will be distributed to more than 40 local pantries, benefiting community members in 20 southeast Missouri counties.
