Brasas Peru, Baton Rouge's sole Peruvian restaurant, is shutting its doors.

At 7520 Perkins Road, Brasas Peru will have its last day likely in March, according to co-owner Carolina Ayala, which is when their lease ends.

"We don't have the day exactly," Ayala said. "But we're supposed to close in March."

The restaurant opened in June 2023 and served a full menu of entrees, salads, appetizers and dessert, including ceviche, empanadas and lomo or pollo saltado, which is beef or chicken with soy sauce, red onions and tomatoes, served with French fries and rice.

The spot also serves Honduran food like carne asada, steak and baleada.

Ayala credited the closure to a lack of customers. She also said the entrance isn't ideal since it's on the building's backside, facing away from the street.
