A 55-year-old man died Sunday after the motorcycle he was riding crashed on Route 23 in Passaic County, authorities said.

John A. Tedeschi, of Butler, was traveling south near mile marker 17.7 when he lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown into a signpost, according to West Milford police.

A police officer who heard the crash found Tedeschi dead in the U-turn lane from Route 23 South to Route 23 North, authorities said.
