Content: Authorities will provide an update on the tragic Brampton fire that resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals. The press conference is scheduled for noon on Monday. The fire occurred early Thursday morning in a semi-detached home on Banas Way, located near McLaughlin and Remembrance roads. Emergency crews responded to the two-alarm fire around 2:15 a.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls from neighbors.
Peel police spokesperson Tyler Bell-Morena confirmed that three women and a toddler died in the blaze. Initially, three people were reported missing, but police later located one individual safe. Tragically, two others were found deceased. On Friday afternoon, investigators announced they had discovered what they believe to be the remains of an adult in the debris of the home.
At the time of the fire, 11 people were inside the residence, including nine family members. Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others, including a child, were transported to the hospital in critical condition. By Friday, one adult remained in critical condition, while the others were reported stable.
Jugraj Singh, a truck driver who was working in the U.S., returned home upon learning about the fire. He was found at the hospital with his family, including his wife, who suffered injuries while escaping the flames and lost her unborn child. Authorities have stated that no further updates on the missing individuals will be released until emergency officials complete their search efforts.
