AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man is in custody for a shooting Sunday in Amherst County.
Teron William Slaughter was arrested by Amtrak Police in Washington DC, and he is expected to be brought back to Virginia in the next couple weeks, according to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jimmy Ayers says deputies were called the morning of November 23, 2025, to Toytown Road, where they found a man who had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was flown to a hospital for treatment.
Slaughter was quickly identified as the suspect and tracked to DC. No information has been released regarding charges or a motive.
