FLINT – It’s been quite a start to the 2025-26 season for the Flint Firebirds.
An impressive win streak has taken center stage, but other exciting news made headlines over the weekend.
Former Firebird captain Connor Clattenburg made his National Hockey League debut Saturday night for the Edmonton Oilers against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers.
Clattenburg, 20, made the most of his five minutes and 47 seconds on the ice, tallying two shots, one hit, one blocked shot, and a roughing minor while skating on the Oilers’ fourth line. The Oilers defeated the Panthers 6-3.
Clattenburg spoke with Oilers TV in its “On The Bench” segment prior to the start of the game about his opportunity to dress on Saturday.
