NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Hidden fees and added costs are hitting travelers’ wallets hard at Nashville International Airport, with some rental car bills including multiple taxes and daily charges that can add hundreds of dollars to vacation expenses.

Michael Vernon discovered the sticker shock firsthand when he picked up a rental car during a recent visit home to the Nashville area from Florida. His bill included five different taxes plus a $10 daily facility fee.

“The one that really stuck out was the facility fee, $10 per day,” Vernon said. “I noticed they’re charging $10 every day, so if you have a seven-day rental, it’s going to be $70. I was thinking $10 to pick it up, $10 to return. That’s fair, $20. Where’s the extra $50 going? Because I’m not using the facility (on those days).”
