A drone operator has been fined for flying a drone in Waterton Lakes and Banff national parks, Parks Canada said Monday.
Parks Canada said it investigated videos recently posted to social media showing an unnamed person flying a drone in Waterton Lakes National Park, Banff National Park and other protected areas.

Under a court ruling, the individual has been ordered to pay a $2,500 fine for taking off and landing a drone in Waterton Lakes National Park — where the person is banned for one year from visiting — and another $2,500 fine for taking off and landing a drone in Banff National Park.
The person must also make donations totalling $1,000 to two Lethbridge Polytechnic progra
