UNC basketball is moving up the national rankings as Thanksgiving approaches and December closes in on the calendar.

The Tar Heels (5-0) improved from No. 19 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll on Nov. 17 to No. 17 on Nov. 24. In the third week of UNC's fifth season with head coach Hubert Davis, the Heels earned a 12-point win against Navy.

Senior guard Seth Trimble is the leader of a group that includes 11 newcomers, but he remains sidelined as he recovers from a broken forearm and subsequent surgery.
