AWARD-WINNING Scottish writer Paul Laverty has joined pro- Palestine protesters facing terrorism charges in burning prosecutors' offers of getting off with a warning.

Laverty became one of more than 2100 people across the UK arrested under suspicion of supporting the banned Palestine Action group after allegedly wearing a t-shirt around the Edinburgh festival season which read: “Genocide in Palestine. Time to take action.”

The protest group Palestine Action were designated a terror organisation by the UK Government in July, and the t-shirt was deemed to express support for the proscribed group – an offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
