Birmingham City and their Championship rivals can expect the EFL to at least consider following the Premier League in getting rid of Profitability & Sustainability Rules, according to a football finance expert.
Dr Tom Bason, Assistant Professor (Research) at Coventry University, has told BirminghamLive the league's concern over the state of clubs' finances could see them consider following the Premier League by replacing PSR with Squad Cost Ratio rules.
As things stand Championship clubs are allowed to lose £39million over a three-year period - with potential points deductions for a breach.
That happened to Blues back in 2019 when they were docked nine points for ridiculous spending levels in the summer of 2017.
The Premier League voted to change their rules last week,
