IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - A Des Moines girl who who spent part of her infancy and childhood in the hospital now loves to pretend she is one of her doctors, calling herself “Dr. Millie.” Millie Judge will be the honorary kid captain this Friday as the Nebraska Cornhuskers host the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Millie was born with a rare genetic syndrome called Bannayan–Riley–Ruvalcaba with underlying PTen deletion. This causes intestinal polyps and low muscle tone, along with other health complications.
Shortly after she was born, Millie went to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital because of breathing issues. She had to undergo open heart surgery at four months old. Then this summer 2025, Doctors removed her colon to reduce her risk of cancer.
