PIKE COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - One person is dead and two people are injured after a plane crash in Pike County.
The Pike County Sheriff's Department was called at 9:39 p.m. Sunday to a field north of Interstate 72 west of Exit 35.
A responding deputy found a person along the interstate who was later identified as a passenger from the airplane.
The deputy started searching for the plane and found it a short time later.
There were three people that had been in the plane. Two passengers were taken to hospitals. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not been identified. The FAA along with the Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Top Stories:
