LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Doctors have sounded the alarm that Americans need to get ready for a nasty flu season.
According to experts, one flu strain has picked up a number of mutations, which could mean it’s able to escape immunity from vaccines.
“We are starting to see more children and adults test positive for flu,” said Dr. Kris Bryant, Norton Children’s Infectious Diseases. Bryant said flu season has arrived in the Louisville area.
“We’re definitely starting to see flu cases starting to come into the emergency room,” said Dr. Thomas Cunningham, Norton Emergency Medicine.
Norton’s team of doctors said that a new variant, a mutated strain known as Subclade K, is currently impacting other countries like Japan and the United Kingdom, and doctors believe this strain may lead to an incr
