LOUISVILLE, Ky. — According to a letter from Jefferson County Public Schools superintendent Brian Yearwood, the district is pausing and withdrawing a proposal to adjust school start times beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
“After careful review and continued conversations with families, staff, and community stakeholders, JCPS will pause and withdraw the current start-time proposal,” the letter said.
The letter said, “more analysis and deeper engagement” are needed before JCPS goes forward with the proposal.
Over the next several months, Yearwood said in the letter that the district will look into options. The process will include expanded study, feedback opportunities and planning with families, educators and community partners.
