It’s a mountain of rubbish that has been declared a critical incident by the Environment Agency.

The illegal tip in Oxfordshire has built up over months and is threatening the nearby river Cherwell which is a tributary of the Thames.

The Environment Agency said it has mounted a major criminal investigation and has said it will try to “ensure those responsible” clear it up.

But why did it get dumped in the first place?
