A fire that erupted on a container ship at the Port of Los Angeles and temporarily triggered shelter-in-place orders for two communities has been “substantially contained” Saturday, Nov. 22.
Authorities responded to a fire that occurred below the deck of a container ship called ONE Henry Hudson at the Yusen Container Terminal in the Port of Los Angeles on Friday, Nov. 21, according to the Port of Los Angeles.
The ship’s crew reported an electrical fire originating below deck, the Los Angeles Fire Department said on Friday.
All crew members were accounted for with no injuries reported, according to an update from the LAFD at 8:27 p.m. Friday. Over 180 personnel were working on the incident, LAFD said late Friday evening, and the incident prompted shelter-in-place orders for San Pedro and
