AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - School is out this week for most CSRA kids, so some families will be leaving town for a Thanksgiving break.
They’ll be among a record-setting 81.8 million people journeying at least 50 miles from home for the holiday. Last year, 1.6 million fewer people traveled for the Thanksgiving holiday, the organization said.
In Georgia, AAA expects 2.3 million people to travel 50 miles or more. That’s a 1.4% increase over last year, which sets a new record for Thanksgiving travel.
On the road
The vast majority of travelers will go by car.
