Fox Crader was called upon in one of Oregon’s biggest games of the year. The redshirt freshman from Evergreen delivered.

Crader made his first career start at left tackle Saturday as No. 7 Oregon beat No. 15 USC, 42-27. The win likely clinches a berth in the College Football Playoff for the Ducks.

Oregon’s offensive line has suffered a rash of injuries recently. Regular starting tackle Isaiah World was hampered by an ankle injury suffered the previous week and played a limited role against USC.

In turning to Crader, Oregon put its faith in a player who has played 33 snaps over five games, mostly late in blowout wins. Left tackle is especially important as it’s the position responsible for protecting the blind side of right-handed quarterback Dante Moore.
