CLEVELAND, Ohio - Good news for cross-town travelers.

For the first time since April, Interstate 490 westbound traffic can directly access Interstate 71 south and Ohio 176 (Jennings Freeway) south.

The change occurred over the weekend as the Ohio Department of Transportation makes progress in its yearslong repaving and bridge repair project on I-490 and nearby areas.

The major work will be done by the end of next year, though the job won’t be completely finished until July 2027, an ODOT spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the West Seventh Street south entrance to I-490 east will remain closed through July 2026 for pavement replacement. Drivers can use a separate ramp about 100 yards south during the closing.

Also currently closed is the Rockefeller Drive entrance ramp to I-490 westbound.
