WASHINGTON —
Discord and some of its users have been in the headlines recently, and law enforcement is raising concerns about a digital blind spot that may help those responsible for violence and extremism hide their virtual footprints on the platform.
What is Discord? Advertisement
If you have young people in your family, you may already know what Discord is.
The online communication platform was launched in 2015. It was originally built to provide a seamless way for video-gamers to talk to each other, coordinate gaming strategies, and build online communities around gaming.
Fast-forward a decade, and it’s evolved into a voice, video and text communication platform used by over 200 million people. Users must be at least 13 years old.
