ESPN college football analyst Booger McFarland joined the Pardon My Take podcast recently to discuss a number of topics, including the Penn State job opening.

McFarland was asked who he believes the Nittany Lions should hire and said that to him, one coach stands out.

“Pat Fitzgerald. Period. Point blank,” Booger McFarland said. “Like, if the Penn State people can get past allegedly what happened at Northwestern – I know he’s been vindicated based on the lawsuit.

“If the Penn State people can get past that, doesn’t it make a lot of sense?”

Fitzgerald, the former Northwestern head coach, took the Wildcats to the Big Ten Championship game twice during his time there.

He has been mentioned as a candidate at Penn State before, and McFarland added to that talk last week.
