Rookie safety Drew Mukuba, who suffered a broken ankle in the final minute of the Cowboys loss Sunday, needs surgery and could miss the rest of the season, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Monday.

Mukuba was helped off the field after getting his ankle rolled up on at the end of the 24-yard George Pickens reception down to the Eagles’ 22-yard-line with 45 seconds left that set up Brandon Aubrey’s game-winning field goal.

He was seen on crutches in the locker room after the Eagles’ 24-21 loss at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Head coach Nick Sirianni on Monday afternoon wouldn’t confirm that Mukuba needs surgery.
