A lawsuit filed by a former East Ridge High School student against Hamilton County and the Hamilton County Board of Education has been dismissed, according to newly released court records.
The suit was brought by Tauris Sledge, who was arrested in 2022 following an altercation with a school resource officer after he refused to participate in a kickball game. Body camera video from the SRO captured the encounter.
Sledge filed the lawsuit as part of an effort to remove District Attorney General Coty Wamp from his criminal case. Records show the case was dismissed without prejudice , meaning it may be refiled at a later date.
Hamilton County court documents also show Sledge pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in September of this year.
