TOLEDO, Ohio — A 13-year-old boy has died after being shot Monday afternoon in west Toledo, according to police.

Authorities received a call about the shooting shortly after 2 p.m. in the 1800 block of Balkan Place.

When officers arrived, they located Darvelle Nelson suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Detectives on scene told WTOL 11 that the shooting happened inside a home.
