Walleye are making a comeback on Mille Lacs Lake, and because of that, anglers are allowed to harvest up to three walleye from the lake per day this winter.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is keeping in place a three-walleye limit that's been in effect since August for ice fishing season on Mille Lacs. That applies to fish longer than 17 inches, and only one of the three can be longer than 20 inches.

Brad Parsons, fisheries section manager for the DNR, says "Mille Lacs’ walleye population is trending in a good direction for both adult and juvenile fish."

“We’re pleased to keep the current regulation in place for this winter and offer anglers this harvest opportunity," he says.
