Pittsburgh International Airport is facing a larger-than-usual Thanksgiving travel surge just one week after it opened its new terminal.
Approximately 320,000 people will pass through the airport between Sunday, Nov. 23 and Monday, Dec. 1 — a 10% increase from the same period last year, according to airport spokesman Bob Kerlik.
Around 30,000 travelers use the airport on a typical day, but there will be closer to 40,000 people each day on average this week, he said.
Mr. Kerlik advised travelers to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights to learn how to navigate the terminal.
“This is new for a lot of folks, so you want to give yourself a little bit of extra time parking and getting to and from the airport,” he said.
