The Premier League have issued a statement regarding Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye ’s red card during Everton’s win over Manchester United on Monday night.
Gueye was sent off for striking his own teammate Michael Keane during the first half at Old Trafford.
The astonishing incident occurred in the 13th minute as the Everton pair were involved in an argument after the midfielder had given possession away which leading to Bruno Fernandes taking a shot which flashed just wind.
After a brief face to face, Keane shoved Gueye, who responded by raising his hand into the central defender's face.
All of which happened right in front of referee Tony Harrington who showed Gueye a red card - much to the surprise of many inside Old Trafford.
