AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Augusta Rescue Mission had to stop accepting requests for Thanksgiving meal deliveries after demand far exceeded its capacity.

This is forcing the nonprofit to cap services despite continued calls for help.

The organization received requests for 125 addresses this year, requiring 750 meals for delivery, compared to 23 addresses and 160 meals last year. Even after capping requests, the mission received about 600 additional requests.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have the capacity to meet the needs of everyone, but we’re blessed to be able to help who we can,” said Chris Jones, Augusta Rescue Mission executive director.
