NEW BOSTON, Ohio (WSAZ) - Days before Thanksgiving, teens were delivering hot turkey, ham, and other staples to residents at Buckeye Towers, a senior high-rise that hasn’t had a working elevator for more than five weeks.
The property manager said one of their elevators stopped working Oct. 18, and the other went out of service months earlier.
Some residents like Mary Conley are not physically able to get up and down the stairs without help.
“I’ve been out one time in over a month,” Conley said. “Each day is the same over and over.”
Local businesses donated a Thanksgiving feast Monday, and Portsmouth West High School students went door-to-door delivering the meals.
