The Ann Jenson Memorial Community Thanksgiving Dinner has a simple mission, that nobody is hungry or alone on Thanksgiving, and volunteers were hard at work Monday morning ensuring that their mission becomes a reality.
For the last 25 years, a group of volunteers has served meals, originally aimed at homeless veterans but now open to anyone without a place to go for the holidays.
For the first time this year, the committee of volunteers has formed a 501c(3) nonprofit to facilitate more monetary donations rather than individual donations of food.
It’s much needed, members of the newly created nonprofit’s board said, and organizers are expecting record-breaking turnout at the dinner, held between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday at the Associated Veterans Club, 305 N. Cleveland Ave.
