NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Thanksgiving is right around the corner, meaning it’s officially the busiest time to travel. People across Hampton Roads have the options to drive, fly, or even take the train to get to their Thanksgiving dinner.
When it comes to holiday travel, Lisa Stafford, an Amtrak spokesperson, said the key is to always plan ahead, because this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday are typically the three busiest days of the year for Amtrak.
“Plan early. Make sure if you have not got your ticket, we still have tickets left,” Stafford said.
Last year, Amtrak helped more than 1.2 million passengers around the country get to their Thanksgiving destination. This year, they expect those travel numbers to be record-breaking.
