Philip Brewer and Christina Hardy’s defense attorneys have once again had their motions for continuances regarding omnibus pre-trial hearings approved in court since the defendants pleaded not guilty in the homicide of Mercer Island resident Curtis Engeland in March of 2024.

The seventh continuances occurred on Nov. 6 prior to the pair’s hearings in King County Superior Court, according to Casey McNerthney, director of communications of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Hardy’s next omnibus hearing date is now slated for March 3, 2026, and Brewer’s next omnibus hearing date is now set for March 5, 2026. Both defendants’ final trial dates will be set after the completion of the pre-trial hearings.
