MAUMEE, Ohio —
Maumee's mayor, Jim MacDonald, said he is resigning at the end of the month, and now, the four council members elected earlier this month are calling for him to push that date back.
MacDonald has served as Maumee's mayor since January of 2024 but has served the city for 37 years as police chief and city council president.
MacDonald sent a letter to Maumee City Council and administrative staff on Sunday, saying he feels his "time of service to the city of Maumee has come to a close" and "Maumee is stronger today than it has been in several years."
WTOL 11 asked for an interview with MacDonald, but he declined that request.
