MAUMEE, Ohio — Mayor Jim MacDonald of Maumee announced his retirement from public service on Sunday, to take effect on December 1.
In a letter to Maumee City Council and administrative staff, Mayor MacDonald said his last day as mayor would be November 30.
“I feel my time of service to the City of Maumee has come to a close,” said MacDonald in the letter.
He went on to say that the city had met and exceeded the goals he had laid out in his first state of the city address, including: safer neighborhoods, improving ageing infrastructure, creating a strong financial position for the city, investing in youth, and promoting business investment.
MacDonald was elected mayor in November 2023.
MacDonald presided over a tumultuous period in Maumee politics.
