LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Webb County commissioners are exploring a $16 million investment in municipal water rights as the region continues to grow.

During a commissioners court meeting on Monday, November 24, officials passed an item tasking Legacy Water, the City of Laredo and Webb County to explore and find water sources.

“The company Legacy Water, the city of Laredo and Webb County are working together to see what is the best option for all of us,” said Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina, Webb County commissioner for Precinct 2. “And the reason they are saying that is because water is a necessity, water is not a luxury. So we are in dire need of water in the sense that the city is growing, the county is growing, what would be our best option?”
