LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Among the orange leaves at the entrance of the Heritage Green Apartments on Monday were some loose pieces of yellow police tape and red blood stains on the ground near the fence.

On Saturday, a man suspected in a robbery was shot and killed while running from police. Officials say he pulled out a handgun before police shot him.

“Yeah, I heard it. I heard it back there,” Kiara Brown said, recalling what she heard Saturday night. “It’s crazy. Crazy.”

The incident happened on the edge of one of LMPD’s Sustained Focus Improvement areas.

Kiara and Marsha Brown have lived there for a few months now and say they haven’t seen anything like it. What they have seen is LMPD’s presence in the neighborhood.
