WASHINGTON, D.C. (WITN) - Two lucky turkeys from North Carolina are getting the big honor of being pardoned by the president this year in one of Washington’s most infamous Thanksgiving traditions.

Gobble and Wobble have been spared from the dinner table and made their debut at the Willard InterContinental Hotel Monday morning, just before their presidential pardon Tuesday.

“It’s truly an honor to carry on this tradition,” Butterball CEO Jay Jandrain said. “For the past 78 years and through 15 presidential administrations.”

The turkeys will carry on the decades-long tradition with President Donald Trump, then continue to live the rest of their lives back in the state.
