DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - With food shelf demand rising and donations down, Chum is still providing Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of families this year, thanks to community donations.

The basement of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Duluth’s Denfeld neighborhood was filled with people waiting to receive Thanksgiving boxes from Chum on Monday morning. Chum handed out 100 boxes that included everything necessary to make a Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey and a pumpkin pie.

For many, the boxes represent much more than just the food inside. Community member Jason Zissos picked up a box for his mother. He says the program allows his family to celebrate together even as times are tough.
