DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - The Iowa Department of Administrative Services has denied a holiday event hosted by the Satanic Temple at the state capitol.
The department also denied the display last year, prompting a lawsuit by the ACLU of Iowa.
Former director of the department and gubernatorial candidate Adam Steen spoke at the Capitol on Monday following the decision. Steen praised Governor Kim Reynolds and the Department of Administrative Services for their decision not to allow the event.
Steen announced the decision in front of dozens of families at the Capitol. He said the ritual would harm Iowa’s youth.
