SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Ellie Whaley is a good student and a leader, and the senior has always had great support.

“My parents. They push me to be better every day. And they both really inspire me,” said Ellie.

Ellie is the student body president. She’s active in FCCLA and has been a volleyball captain. She’s also been in both band and choir.

“I am glad that I’ve had a lot of those extracurriculars because it helps keep me busy, helps me become a leader, and helps me grow as a person,” said Ellie.

“She is very focused. In a world where everything is a little bit distracting and hectic, she is by far the student that I’ve ever seen that is the most focused. People can be talking around her, and she just stays hooked on what she needs to do,” said counselor Sarah Hersch.
