OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha Police Criminal Investigations Captain Kara Hindman says the department's "main goal" in investigating the Crips gang is to "dismantle their leadership," she said.
"That's exactly what these detectives did," she said.
On Friday, the U.S. Attorney District of Nebraska Office announced an indictment of 13 alleged Crips gang members.
Many of those are high-ranking in the gang, Hindman told KETV on Monday. The department said the gang is one of the most active in Omaha.
"You're taking 13 individuals, and a lot of them had a very high status within one single gang," Hindman said. "And that's putting a statement out there that we're not going to tolerate the crime that these gang members are doing, and we will continue to work with the community and keep this a safe plac
