PAINESVILLE, Ohio — A 52-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday outside Johnny Gringos restaurant in downtown Painesville, and the suspect in the case was expected to appear in court Monday afternoon.
Police said officers and firefighters were called to the bar at 11 Chester Street around 3:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of a shooting. Responders found the victim outside and attempted life-saving measures before he was taken to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
A 28-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene after being detained by bystanders, according to police. He was treated at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries before being booked into the Lake County Jail.
