Cleveland Browns legendary quarterback Bernie Kosar was discharged from University Hospitals in Cleveland on Monday, one week after he underwent a successful liver transplant surgery Nov. 17.
“I feel like a walking miracle,” Kosar told reporters at a press conference at UH on Monday.
Kosar, 61, went in to surgery last Monday at 5 a.m. and his procedure wrapped up around 10 a.m., Jim McCarthy, a close friend of Kosar, told cleveland.com’s Terry Pluto . He admit there were times in recent months where his health challenges had him considering his own mortality.
“There was no way I thought I was going to be here for my 62nd birthday,” Kosar said Monday, one day ahead of his 62nd birthday on Tuesday. “There was no way I thought I was going to be healthy, let alone walking out of here.”
