A teenager saved her mother's life — just days after she had learned CPR.

The first time Eliza Soward had to use her training in a real situation was just six days after completing the course, and it helped keep mum Maggie alive until paramedics reached their home following the cardiac arrest .

Doctors say Maggie would have died at the family home in Utah, Salt Lake City had Eliza, 17, not been so alert and skilled at the emergency procedure. She had only learned it that week during a health and safety course she had decided to take for professional development.
