LAHAINA, Hawaii - Washington State overcame a rough, slow start to beat the Division II Chaminade Silverswords, 90-85, opening the Maui Invitational tournament with a win.

The Cougs turned the ball over a whopping 15 times in the first half, finishing with 23. They also shot only 33% from the field in the first half compared to a much-improved 62% in the second.

Ace Glass led Wazzu in scoring with a tremendous 26 off the bench, hitting all seven of his free throw attempts. Rihards Vavers also dazzled off the bench with seven made threes.

WSU plays tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. PST against the winner of tonight's Texas versus Arizona State game.
