(KBTX) - In the rematch of the five-set thriller Lone Star Showdown, No. 2 Texas A&M (23-4, 14-1) fell to No. 3 Texas (23-2, 13-2) 25-18, 16-25, 27-25, 25-19 in the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament.
Why did Texas win? The Longhorns vastly improved their blocking against the Aggies from their regular-season matchup at Reed Arena on Halloween. Texas had 15 total blocks in the SEC semifinals compared to just 4 blocks in the regular season matchup.
Standout performance: Torrey Stafford led the Longhorns with 16 kills while adding 14 digs, 4 blocks, and an ace. Ayden Ames had a team-best 8 blocks while hitting .385 with 7 kills.
Ifenna Cos-Okpalla had a match-high 9 blocks and hit .364 with 6 kills.
